Witnessing |
||
| :Witnessing for
Christ" is an expression heard in the religious world, but nobody can
"witness for Christ" today in the Biblical sense. Witnessing
requires giving eye-witness testimony or inspired revelation. The apostles
and others were witnesses but nobody today qualifies.
What difference does it make? To say you are witnessing for Christ shows you do not understand what the Bible teaches about witnessing. Since some say they are "witnessing" believe they are directly guided by the Holy Spirit, you may be accused of thinking the same thing. You would be very wrong. We are not called upon to "give our testimony" or "witness" but to preach what the witnesses revealed. We should use "sound words" (2 Tim. 1:13) and "speak as the oracles of God" (1 Pet. 4:11). |
