What Must Change? |
||
| The change in one's
manner of life is the result of genuine repentance. Jesus taught,
"Except ye repent ye shall all likewise perish" (Luke 13: 3).
Repentance is a change of mind about sin, a change of mind about Christ, a
change brought on by godly sorrow and a recognition of the goodness of
God, and results in a reformation of life. It is a change of conviction.
A change in conviction is useless unless it takes action in the kind of mind change that results in a change in the manner of living. Once cannot continue living in sin and be pleasing to God (Romans 12: 1,2). As important as the Bible teaches baptism is, that change of mind is not accomplished by baptism. Baptism changes our relationship to God. It is repentance; a repentance motivated by faith and confidence in Christ that produces this change. |
