What a Ridiculous Offer |
||
| There is a Baptist
preacher around here who has been popping off against the necessity of
baptism and churches of Christ. When he was challenged to debate he said
he would if at the end there would be declared a winner. The judge would be
a professor from Vanderbilt. Also the loser would have to agree never to
preach on the subject again.
Of course, he knew such a stupid offer as that would be rejected but he made it so it could not be said he refused to debate. He did refuse unless someone from a school that does not even believe the Bible to be the Word of God could decide who won. But it is interesting, even though he was so sure he would win, that if he lost he would agree to never again preach on what he considered to be the truth. What kind of preacher is that? Looks like he only wants to appear to be a big, bad wolf to his people but hide behind a ridiculous offer at the same time. Baptist preachers have some of the most absurd positions regarding baptism, security, their denomination, etc. I thought they once believed the Bible. Well, those I know surely do not. |
