They Seek Their Own

When Paul was commending Timothy and the reason he was sending him to the church at Philippians, he said there was no man likeminded. Timothy was one who cared for the state of others. As for others he might have sent he said, "For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's" (Phil. 2: 21). What a sad commentary about people.

Selfishness is a common sin among people. Having our own way and taking care of our own interests to the neglect and unconcern for the welfare of the way of Christ and the good of others is not the attitude and manner of life that befits a Christian. Certainly we must care for ourselves. But as servants of the Lord we serve other people. Therefore, we must take into consideration what is in the best interests of others.

Timothy was that kind of man. We need to ask, "Am I likeminded?"
