That Pentecost Day |
||
| Many were present on
that first Pentecost after Christ ascended. They heard about the
sound as a rushing mighty wind and tongues of fire upon the apostles. They
head these Galileans speak in languages (tongues) that were not normal,
native or natural to them but were able to speak so all were able to
hear in his own language.
This manifestation of power of the Holy Spirit, this miraculous evidence that the apostles were guided by the Holy Spirit in what they were preaching, stood as evidence that the entire procedure was of God. True, some accused them of being drunk, but Peter convincingly refuted such a false charge. The accusation only went to prove that even the scoffers recognized something unusual was taking place. That was a momentous day. |
