Wring It Out

We sing a lively song entitled "Ring It Out" with reference to proclaiming the gospel message. But now we focus on the word "wring," same sound but a different word. It means to squeeze and twist until you extract a liquid. There are those who try to wring WATER out of God's plan for the salvation of man.

Why would anybody want to do that in view of the many times WATER is included. Just consider one account of conversion; that of the Ethiopian as recorded in Acts eight.

Philip preached Christ to him. They came to a certain WATER. The Ethiopian later saw WATER and asked, "See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized." The chariot was stopped and they both went down into the WATER, and after Philip baptized him they both came up out of the WATER. Yet, some would wring water out the account.

Water does not cleanse the soul. Only the blood of Christ can do that. But it is when we are baptized in water that we reach that blood (Romans 6: 3, 4; Acts 2: 28; 22: 16) and enter Christ (Gal. 3: 27).
