Just Try to do It

Suppose someone tells you to coach the basketball team. At the same time they deny you have authority over the team. Do you think you can do that job?

Suppose you are appointed over some co9mmunity project but you are denied having authority over what is to be done and those selected to do the work. Do you really believe you can do your job?

Sensible people know the church must have supervision before it can have cooperation. God has given elders the power and obligation to "rule." Nobody can read Scripture and deny that truth. But how can elders rule if they have no authority as some would contend?

You see, some want to deny elders their authority because they want to run things their way, any way, no way, whatever way, and if elders have authority their wings are clipped. The authority of elders is Biblically  established, delegated to them by the Lord, limited in scope, but evident to all who accept the Bible as the Word of God.
