Reputation and Character |

| The Son of
God said unto the church at Sardis, "I know thy works, that thou hast
a name that thou livest, and art dead" (Rev. 3:1). Of Sardis men
said, "She is alive." That was her reputation. Christ said she
was dead. That was her character. What men say of you is your reputation
and what God says of you is your character and what you really are.
Reputation may not always reflect character and vice versa.
Good men have had bad reputations such as Jeremiah, Paul and Christ. Evil men can have good reputations like Absalom, Judas and others. Both reputation and character are important. Others can ruin your reputation but only you can ruin your character. Character matters the most. |
