The One I Recommend

Often I am asked, "Which version of the Bible do you recommend?" First, let me recommend a VERSION, not a PERVERSION. So many of the so-called "modern speech" books so mutilate the Scriptures that they are not reliable. I preach from the King James Version, occasionally citing another for some specific comparison that harmonizes with truth. The KJV is translated from the same text that produced the Reformation and Restoration Movements. Among faithful brethren it is usually found accessible. In class work it is justifiably the basis of most studies.

Now and then you will encounter a word that is obsolete, not in error, but archaic and not in our common usage, but whose meaning is still found in most dictionaries. You can count on it and learn from it best.

Among the "modern speech" books the New King James Version is far better than any other. But to my mind, none reach the high level of the King James Version. This is the one I recommend.
