Us, the Ungodly

We know we all have sinned and need salvation. We know that God's plan included Christ dying on the cross for our sins. Do you consider yourself among those for whom he died? He died for me and you..

"...in due time Christ died for the ungodly" (Romans 5:6). Only two verses later the inspired apostle wrote that "...Christ died for us." Now just how does this describe me and you? Are we not the ungodly for whom He died? Would there be any salvation for me or you if He had not died?

We are reconciled to God by His death (Romans 5:10), saved by His life (Romans 5:10), justified by His blood (Romans 5:9). The Psalmist told us "the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment" (Psalm 1:5). Are we not thankful we can escape that condition and be counted as a child of God? The more I consider His death, the more thankful I am for what He did.
