Time to be Alone

We all count among our dearest blessings having the companionship of loved ones, friends, good brethren and those for whom we care and who care for us. We delight in the opportunities to be in their midst. But there are times when we would do well to be alone. The Lord surely loved His apostles but there were times when He withdrew Himself from them to be alone for prayer.

We receive great encouragement and strength in praying with others. But there are times when we, like Christ, need to pray alone. Luke 5: 16 records, "And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed." We can meditate and concentrate upon matters of our heart and soul and commune with the Lord in prayer. What a privilege! We can take advantage of such moments and our soul will benefit from it.
