This is my Prayer

There is a beautiful song entitled by the words of this daily note. It expresses the desire of the one who sings it. It is a musical prayer.

When we realize that it is sin that separates us from God (Isaiah 59:1, 2), that we cannot redeem ourselves from our sins because we cannot earn salvation (Ephesians 2:8, 9), but God has provided a Savior and that Savior is His only begotten Son (John 3:16), once we have come to Him then we pray earnestly that God will forgive us. "Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities" (Psalm 51:9).

But prayer is not the avenue to forgiveness without having first obeyed the gospel. We have no access to God in prayer until we are His child. Nobody is taught to "pray the sinner's prayer" when he is outside of Christ. As a child of God we can pray as did the Psalmist. Nothing is more important than forgiveness of our sins. But we must follow God's pattern or we shall remain guilty and condemned.
