Seeing, Learning, Receiving

Is Not Enough

How fortunate a person is who can observe a righteous life and see what a Christian is supposed to be. He may be taught by others or from his own study of the Word learn what God would have him to do. He may even agree with what he sees and learns and says to himself, "I think that is the truth and I accept that to be what ought to be." Who could possibly contend that such as described above is not good and worthwhile?

But a person can experience all of this and still be unacceptable before God. There is something more. He must DO the will of God. Being a Christian is to live a life of doing what is right as well as seeing, learning and receiving.

Paul showed this when he said, "Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you" (Phil. 4:9). His teaching was exactly the same as that of Jesus in Matthew 7:21.
