Memorial Day

Today, May 26th, is the day the nation marks what is called Memorial Day even though the actual day does not come until May 31st. It is a time when those who have given their lives to protect our freedom are honored. We owe so much to those millions who preserved our freedoms until now. While war is horrible it is sometimes necessary because there are evil people in the world who would enslave everyone if they could.

Every Sunday is a memorial day to Christ. Christians eat the Lord's Supper in commemoration of Christ with emphasis on His death on the cross. Many have died for our freedom but only the death of Christ, the Son of God, could secure our freedom from the wages of sin. This was God's plan. We observe that Supper faithfully, reverently and thankfully. We honor the Lord and proclaim Him to the world.
