The Foundation of Your Faith

Everybody believes something. Even those who say it does not matter what you believe believe that it does not matter. Those who believe there is no truth believe it is true that there is no truth. How inconsistent!

But why do people believe what they do? The basis and foundation of our faith does matter. Paul warned brethren, "...that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God" (1 Cor. 2:5). Many believe things they have been told by those they consider wise. We cannot rely on the wisdom of men (1 Cor. 1: 26-28). God is the source of true wisdom (James 1: 5). Our faith must have the word of God as its foundation (Rom. 10: 17). If it is based on something other than that, it is a vain and useless faith and will not save.

On what is your faith founded? Can you read of it in Scripture? Why do you believe what you do? Does it come from men or God? It matters.
