Encourage a Priest Today

Hezekiah encouraged the priests in their work. "My sons, be not now negligent, for the Lord hath chosen you to stand before him, to serve him, and that ye should minister unto him, and burn incense" (2 Chron. 29: 11). Priests needed encouragement after what Ahaz had done to them. Now under the influence of Hezekiah they were reinstated to their duties. Some had drifted into sinfulness and needed to cleanse and sanctify themselves, renewing their allegiance to the Father.

We need to encourage one another because we are all priests of God as Christians: "...and he made us to be a kingdom, to be priests unto his God and Father" (Rev. 1: 6); "...a holy priesthood" (1 Peter 3: 5). We encourage each other by bearing each other's burdens, praying for one another, ministering to the needs of each other, offering comfort, kindness, help,  lifting the fallen and strengthening the weak.

Fellowship in the Lord's family is one God-given source of benefit that we ought never neglect to give or partake as we sojourn together toward heaven.
