Jesus Used Scripture

The thought for today is a reminder that Jesus used Scripture. Luke four and Matthew four are accounts of the temptation of Jesus by the devil in the wilderness. The devil is the father of lies and false doctrines. False teachers are servants of the devil.

The devil used three approaches to Christ as he does to us (1 John 2: 16). Notice that the devil can quote Scripture but he abuses and misuses it.

Some are heard to say that you can prove anything you want from the Bible. That is not so unless you misuse the Bible as did the devil. The Lord also used Scripture to combat the devil and the misuse of it as well as to establish the truth.
