It Must Have Been Difficult
  Try to imagine how hard it must have been for Abraham to make the journey toward a specified mountain for the purpose of sacrificing his son Isaac. Had not God promised him this son? Were not all the promises God made dependent on the survival of this son? When did God ever call for human sacrifice? How could he understand all this?

  But he did not hesitate to obey God because his faith was in God and his confidence in His Word. The same thing is true for me and you also. We will not be asked to do what Abraham was told to do, but we can be sure God is faithful; He keeps His Word; there is a reward of heaven awaiting those who trust and obey. Even though there may be times when the going is difficult we can do as did Abraham and look to the Lord to provide.
