How It Is Done

Jeremiah 31: 31 tells us that God would make a new covenant and "I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts." Hebrews 8: 8 shows that covenant is the covenant of Christ. How would the Lord write it on the hearts of people?

He gave it to His Son, the Mediator of the new covenant. The Son gave it to the apostles whom He had chosen as His ambassadors. They were then filled with the Holy Spirit to bring all things to their remembrance. They preached this law of the Lord.

When people heard it they were cut to the heart and cried out, "What shall we do?" The apostles told them to repent and be baptized for the remission of sins. This is the manner in which the Lord put His law into the minds of men and write it on their hearts.

So it remains today. The writing of God's law on the hearts of people is done by preaching and teaching the gospel of Christ as revealed in Scripture..
