He Used Them |
||
| There is no doubt
that God often used nations that were evil to punish other nations, even
nations less evil than the ones He used to do the punishment. Did not the
enemy nations surrounding Israel often plunder and destroy because of
Israel's rebellion against God? Did not Assyria and later Babylon take
God's people into captivity as punishment for their disobedience? The
point is simply this: Because one nation seems to be relatively more
righteous than another does not mean God will not punish a nation for its
evil and will even use more evil nations to do it.
This should sober the minds of people of our nation. We seem to think we can defy God and run rampant over His will and still enjoy His blessings without interruption. This is folly. Evil will be penalized. Just how God will do it, when and by whom we cannot tell. But we need not think because others are worse that we shall escape retribution. |
