| To correct a problem
you have to return to the source of it. So many times we only work on the
symptoms and never get to the real matter. As a result the problems remain
and even grow worse. Sin is man's worst problem because it shatters his
life, alienates him from God and destroys his opportunity to live with God
eternally. We must work to stamp out sin.
Jesus tells us where sin begins. In Mark seven verses eighteen through twenty-three He mentions several violations of God's law often committed. He tells us they come from within. That means they begin in the heart or mind of man and take root and produce fruit in bad behavior. He does not minimize the seriousness of the deed, but sheds light on the source where correction must be applied. We sing a wonderful song that asks, "Is thy heart right with God?" It can be. When our hearts are in tune with the will of God our behavior will follow the same path. "Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God" (Matthew 5:8). |
