The Days Came |
||
| Jeremiah wrote,
"Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new
covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah"
(Jeremiah 31: 31). Bible students are familiar with this verse because it
foretold the coming of the faith of Christ.
It came to pass. Hebrews 8: 8 the writer quotes from Jeremiah when he speaks of the new covenant of Jesus Christ. The first covenant was not faultless and did not take away sins. If is could have done that there would have been no need for the second covenant, the faith of Christ. With the coming of the new covenant the old covenant was made old (Hebrews 8: 13). This is another affirmation that we live today subject and accountable to the covenant God gave through Christ. Nothing about this is hard to understand. |
