Condemning Self

Why would a person ever want to condemn himself/herself? Yet, it is done repeatedly. Such folly!

How is this done? Romans 2 teaches us how the Jews were condemning themselves by making judgments of others and condemning others, using their own faulty standards as measures, but at the same time doing the very things they condemned. Such inconsistency is seldom seen more explicitly.

In this chapter Paul shows proper judgment is proper. Paul reasons this way, "Do you think you shall escape the judgment of God when you are judging others by the wrong measure and committing the very things you condemn?"

Sometimes we hear people condemn condemning. Is that not an example of the very kind of error Paul is exposing in this chapter? Are not those who condemn judging exercising judgment?
