Better to Flee |
||
| The word translated
"flee" in First Corinthians ten, verse fourteen, means to shun,
avoid by flight. It is not always cowardly to flee but sometimes the mark
of great wisdom. Among those things Christians must shun is idolatry. God
has always condemned idolatry whether it is some material image or someone
or something we may put first in life before God. Idols can take many
forms. Christians must always keep God first.
Keeping our priorities in order is one of the duties of faithfulness. Even things that are not evil in themselves can become our undoing if we displace God and allow those things to become our major concern. Best we learn early to shun making an idol out of anything lest we find ourselves displeasing to the One before we shall stand in judgment. |
