Assembly or Assembling |
||
| It is strange how
some try to justify being absent from worship services. When they read
Hebrews 10: 25 they misread it. They read "assembly" but the
passage says "assembling." They think being present for the
Sunday morning worship service is all God wants and they are absent
otherwise.
Whenever brethren assemble faithful Christians will try to be present if possible. They consider the gathering a privilege, not only an obligation. They are there because they WANT to be there. Assembling includes Sunday morning but also other assemblies as well. Some want to do as little as they think they can do and then excuse it. Absenteeism hurts the church. Even when justified it hurts. But deliberate absenteeism hurts the individual as well as the congregation. We better reread the passage and adjust to it. Who can dismiss God's commands? |
