A Local Necessity

Christians want the local congregation to stand for the truth. After all, the church is the pillar and ground of the truth ( 1 Tim. 3: 15). This demands knowledge of God's Word by the membership that comes only through study and prayer. Growing in grace and knowledge is not an optional matter but a command (2 Pet. 3: 18). This is another reason we all should attend the Bible classes.

Members of the church have the duty to hold up the hands of preachers who come their way when they preach sound doctrine. They should resist and oppose any who do not teach the truth. No church will long remain faithful to God and doctrinally strong unless the membership is concerned with the purity of the message of truth. Churches that drift into apostasy have a record of accepting uncertain sounds and less than truth.

What is my and your part in all this? Standing for "thus saith the Lord" is a local necessity and we should be among those that do so.
